Centenary Preschool Complete Information

Philosophy

Centenary United Methodist Church wants to offer a Preschool program that reaches out to the parents of our community. Our program is committed to helping each child reach his/her fullest potential and to gain an understanding of God's presence in the world around them. We strive to provide a loving and nurturing atmosphere in which each child will grow cognitively, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. We will create a Whole Brain learning environment in which each child's individual learning style is embraced. To this end, we will model Christian principals in every aspect of our curriculum and our daily activities.

Mission Statement

Centenary Preschool, a component of the overall vision established for Centenary United Methodist Church, seeks to fulfill the following mission:

All children are placed in a loving environment where they can grow and learn by discovering the world from a strong Christian perspective. The goal is to create a safe sanctuary of learning where children are challenged to achieve their full potential.   It is believed that children can reach that potential through the inspiration of dedicated teachers in an environment created to challenge the children's natural desire to learn. The goal is also to lay an early foundation to help children become contributing members of society, responsible adults, and life-long learners. The commitment to excellent care and quality Christian education is extended to every child in our program, from the youngest to the oldest.

The program at Centenary is based on the development of each child's emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual growth through a wide variety of experiences and activities. We strive to develop ethical values, promote, academic competency, and foster enthusiasm for learning. This will be accomplished using whole brain learning methods in a Christian community.

Compliance with State Law

Centenary United Methodist Church follows guidelines established by the Child Protection and Reform Act (RSMO 210). Staff members having reasonable cause to believe that a child known to them in their professional capacity may be abused or neglected, must report any suspicious situations to the Missouri Department of Family Services.

All staff members have attended "Safe Sanctuaries" training. Background checks on each staff member are performed by the State of Missouri.

Centenary United Methodist Church 's Preschool and Parent's Day Out Program operates under the Missouri Department of Health's License-Exempt Status. We meet all necessary state requirements and are subject to annual compliance inspections.

Objectives

To achieve our mission Centenary Preschool and Parent's Day Out has adopted the following objectives:

2.       To value development and responsibility. The children are encouraged always to do their personal best and accept responsibility for their actions.

3.       To develop a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward learning.

4.       To maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.

5.       To recognize that students present multiple learning styles and maintain a whole a whole brain learning environment.

6.       To establish learning that is timely, relevant, and inspiring to the students.

7.       To take learning beyond the classroom.
